Motion Twin’s roguelike Metroidvania title Dead Cells has gotten very popular on Steam because it hit Early Accessibility straight back May of 2017. The programmers have continued to support the game since launch using plenty of updates, together with The Foundry Update releasing back from late December. Today, the programmers have confirmed at a new movie which Dead Cells will be receiving a cost rise once the Steam Winter Sale finishes.

Up until today, Dead Cells was on PC for $16.99, even though it is now discounted to $12.74 within their Steam Winter Sale. After the above sale ends at 1pm ET on January 4, 2018, the purchase price of Dead Cells will rise around $19.99. The programmers even hint in their newest video which the cost might increase yet again once Dead Cells leaves Early Access, which it’ll do sometime in 2018.

As for this video, it starts with a single of the game’s developers moving over each of the features that have been added because Dead Cells because its first launch. He ends off that section by saying that the developers feel like the game reaches a point where the game is automatically strong enough to this point where the developers can concentrate on things like creating new levels and finishing up the game for its entire launch.

Towards the end of the video, the price increase is confirmed and was later set in stone in a Steam Community post by the developers. It’s also here where the programmers sign that we might see another cost increase once Dead Cells leaves Early Access. The developer also states that Motion Twin nevertheless has “a lot of work to perform,” but that won’t stop them from continuing to upgrade the Early Access version of the game.
