PC, PS4, Xbox One

THQ Nordic includes a cutesy looking side-scrolling experience coming down the pipe.   Produced by Slipgate Studios. Rad Rodgers stars a blonde boy along with his  sentient old-school game console, Dusty, on a fun and thrilling new experience. At least, that’s what the first few minutes of the trailer will have you think.

Rad Rodgers is in fact a game on a punk kid that plays too many video games that falls asleep during a heavy gambling session also wakes up in a world where his retro game console comes into life. This kid, Rodgers, is now starring in his own video game adventure, however it’s not as cute and plucky. It’s violent rather crude. A whole lot of blood drains from enemies, bullets fly anywhere, and everyone cracks shrewd and swears. The console is evidenced by John St. John if this provides any indication of where that game is located.

The MIDI-inspired musical composition from Andrew Hulshult really brings out the retro inspiration in a manner that nods to the past as opposed to copying it. It’s clearly for those who grew up enjoying the plucky, adorable side-scrollers of yesteryear and wish to reevaluate it, but in addition they played too much Gears of War across the way.

Rad Rodgers is available today on PC, also is now coming to PS4 and Xbox One on February 21. Have a Look at the reveal preview below:
