They also disclosed new details on how zombies will actively be affected when broken alone with additional information about this reimagined version of Raccoon City. The full details via the press release are as follows:
Resident Evil 2 introduced characters who’d go on to develop into some of the most iconic and beloved heroes in Capcom’s history: rookie police officer Leon S. Kennedy and faculty student Claire Redfield, who are thrust together with a devastating epidemic in Raccoon City that changed its population to deadly zombies. They have to work with each other to survive and get to the base of what’s behind the frightening attack. Both Leon and Claire have their own separately playable campaigns, enabling players to observe the story from both characters’ perspective.
Twenty years later, the brand newest Resident Evil 2 sees the nightmare recurrence, now with unprecedented levels of immersion as observed in a season’s acclaimed Resident Evil 7 biohazard. Using Capcom’s proprietary RE Engine powering a fresh photorealistic design, the characters themselves appear flatter than and the grotesque hordes of zombies are attracted to life using a horrifyingly realistic wet gore effect.
Zombies now respond instantly as they take instantaneous visible damage, making each bullet from your player count. Gorgeous lighting brings the comfortable chambers and corridors of Raccoon City Police Department to fresh life. Players will believe they are at the shoes of heroes Leon and Claire, terrified to step out of this light to fear of what flesh-eating nightmares might await them in the shadow.
Capcom Producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi also talked about the RE2 remake and said this original reveal is just the tip of the iceberg with what’s made to come.
“The media and fan response to Resident Evil 2 when we said’We Can It’ in 2015 has been overwhelming. We’ve been very excited to unveil the brand new game to the world this week. We would like fans to see the reimagining of Resident Evil 2 not only captures the magic of the beloved first, but also makes it to provide a richer experience. The first look at E3 is only a taste of what is to come.”
