Even though Gran Turismo Sport proved fairly polarizing among the racing community and gamers in general as a result of its eSports focus, it appears that the game has still been quite effective commercially.

Today Producer Kazunori Yamauchi declared on Twitter that the game spent five thousand players.

Although this isn’t even close to the earnings of previous titles such as Gran Turismo 5, which sold more than ten thousand copies around PS3, it’s certainly quite an achievement for a game which attracted so many modifications to its basic design.

Part of the reason is most likely that Sony Interactive Entertainment and Polyphony Digital believed in the title enough to keep pushing relevant updates on a monthly rate since release, adding brand new cars, tracks, and attributes to provide fans with a better material suite.

That said, Yamauchi-san himself considers that there are still items to increase attain a “much, much superior Gran Turismo. ”

Gran Turismo Sport is presently available only for PS4. If you’re thinking, then you can catch a backup on Amazon.
