The highly-anticipated Kickstarter game Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night received a rather major new update today, and unfortunately most of it is bad news.

Bloodstained’s producer Koji Igarashi announced via a new Kickstarter update for the game that it has been officially pushed to 2019. Iga stated that the reason for this delay is a result of opinions they received after releasing the beta to Kickstarter backers where they understood that they need to boost the game’s caliber level, which may take longer time than originally expected.

The second major statement is that Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night will no longer launch on PlayStation Vita. Iga stated that the reason behind this cancellation isalso, “mostly because of Sony’s plans to stop the Vita console, finishing production of physical copies and stopping certain online shop service attributes. ” This isn’t even a surprising revelation but it’s one which nonetheless is a pity, however. My thoughts are with our former writer, Azario Lopez, during this trying time.

Should you endorsed the game onto Kickstarter and picked Vita as your system, now you can choose a new platform to get the game upon if it launches or you’re able to get your money back. Expect an email from Fangamer soon to help you through this process.

Iga finished the post by saying that he apologizes for the disappointment with both of these parts of information and assured supporters that he and the team are working harder than ever before to deliver them with the game they want. Delays such as this are never fun but if the finished product reflects what it is that both myself and others wanted out of Iga’s come back to this genre, then I’ll be pleased in the long run.
